CNG Kits Fitting Process
Initial Vehicle Inspection
The vehicle is checked for compatibility with a CNG kit.
Key factors include engine type, fuel system, and available space for cylinder placement.
Selection of the Appropriate CNG Kit
Based on vehicle type, either a Venturi kit or a Sequential kit is selected.
Only government-approved and BIS-certified kits should be used.
Installation of the CNG Cylinder
A high-pressure cylinder is securely mounted, usually in the boot or rear area.
Proper clamps and brackets are used to ensure safety and stability.
Fitting the Pressure Regulator (Reducer)
The regulator is installed in the engine compartment.
It reduces the gas pressure from the cylinder to a usable level for the engine.
Installing Injectors or Mixer
Sequential kits use electronic gas injectors for accurate fuel delivery.
Venturi kits use a mixer that blends CNG with air before combustion.
Mounting the ECU and Fuel Switch
The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) manages gas flow and engine signals.
A dashboard-mounted switch is installed to toggle between petrol and CNG modes.
Pipeline and Electrical Wiring
High-pressure gas pipes are connected from the cylinder to the engine.
All electrical connections are secured and insulated for safety.
Leak Detection and System Calibration
The system is tested for leaks using soap solution or gas detectors.
The ECU is calibrated, and gas flow is adjusted for smooth engine operation.
Test Drive and Final Checks
The vehicle is taken for a test drive to ensure proper performance and switching.
Any necessary adjustments are made after the drive.
Issuance of Compliance Certificate & RTO Endorsement
A compliance certificate is provided by the installer.
Vehicle owners must update their RC with CNG endorsement at the local RTO.
